Interior design has evolved to create many new and distinct products to satisfy client needs and establish new trends. One such product and phenomenon is moss art. Moss art—also known as green graffiti—is a branch of interior decoration that uses moss as its medium. Its unique application of spore-bearing plants that can turn any dull atmosphere into one that is tranquil and refreshing to the eye is becoming a must-have item in homes. According to an article published by Verdissimo, moss art utilizes moss as a substitute for aerosols and chemical products; how it gets its name “green graffiti."

Preserved moss art undergoes three steps in order to achieve a stunning finished look. These three procedures are applied by artist Hoàng Tuấn Anh in order to complete his masterpieces. First, he removes any living organisms or soil present on the moss. Second, he uses chemicals in order to direct the process towards the third step which is the “hibernation status.” Artist Hoàng Tuấn Anh claims that drying the moss is the most challenging step, as it takes him five to seven days to finish. If the moss is not dried properly, it may not be suitable for use in a preserved moss art piece.
This form of Bioart has the uniqueness and touch of flair every home needs. An article written by Mossaro features a list of plants that would be best to use for live and preserved moss arts. For live moss art, using reindeer moss, sheet moss, mood moss, pillow moss, fern moss, caribou moss, prairie sphagnum, and broom fork moss would be best. For preserved moss art, the following mosses would be excellent to use: reindeer moss, sheet moss, lichen moss, bun cushion, and feather moss.
These moss-based art forms offer great benefits when placed within the four corners of our homes. These plants reduce the sound waves that bounce off walls, offering a great advantage in terms of noise reduction, allowing for higher concentration. Mosses also absorbs and stores toxins present in air while serving as a refreshing eye-catching decoration that relaxes the eyes. This emerging Bioart is making a name for itself as it has countless possibilities to grow. The unique application of spore-bearing plants found in the cracks of streets into a practical yet charming decorative is another milestone for bio artists.
